Earning rates: On hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel, earn an unlimited 10 miles per dollar; on flights booked through Capital One Travel, earn five miles per dollar; on all other transactions, earn two miles per dollar.
Benefits: Every year, for bookings made through Capital One Travel, cardholders get $300 in credits. Starting on your first anniversary, each account anniversary carries 10,000 bonus miles worth $100 for travel. Cardmembers can get free breakfast, on-property credits and room upgrades (if available) on stays at affiliated properties booked through Capital One Travel via the Capital One Premier Collection. Either TSA PreCheck or Global Entry also entitles them to up to $100 in statement credits.

Chase Sapphire Preferred Card
Earning rates: On travel booked through the Chase travel portal, on Lyft transactions (until March 2025), and on Peloton equipment and accessory purchases of $150,000 or more (with a ceiling of 25,000 bonus points), Chase Sapphire Preferred card accumulates 5 points per dollar.
It also earns up to 3 points per dollar on dining, select streaming services and online grocery store purchases (excludes Target, Walmart and wholesale clubs); 2 points per dollar on all travel not booked through the Chase travel portal; and 1 point per dollar on everything else.
Benefits: Upon opening the card and each successive cardmember anniversary, cardholders get a $50 statement credit on hotel stays bought through the Chase Ultimate Rewards travel portal. Based on their overall account anniversary year expenditure, they additionally get a 10% bonus—one point for every $10 spent. Among other policies, this card offers some of the top travel protections in the business: trip cancellation insurance, trip delay insurance, and basic rental car coverage.
